Abertay University is the top European institution for computer games education (Princeton Review 2017) and was the first in the world to offer degrees in the discipline in 1997.
Based in Dundee, Abertay has played a key part in the cultural rebirth of the city, which now has a vibrant digital design scene and is eagerly anticipating the opening of the V&A Dundee as part of a £1bn project to transform the waterfront area.
Dating back to 1888, the University is rooted in providing quality higher education to students from all backgrounds, whether they are from the local area, Scotland, the rest of the UK, the EU or further abroad.
With approximately 4,000 students and a compact campus, Abertay uses its small size as a strength and around 20% of students are from outside the UK.
The University recorded the biggest Scottish climb in the Guardian Good University Guide 2018, in which it was rated top in Scotland for Civil Engineering and Food and Drink courses.
Abertay is also a UK leader in cybersecurity education and was the first in the world to offer degrees in Ethical Hacking.
As the first UK Centre for Excellence in Computer Games Education, Abertay is an internationally-recognised thought leader in the field and is currently the only European institution ranked inside the global top 10 for postgraduate courses (Princeton Review 2017).
With internationally recognised research strengths in soil science, psychology and sport and exercise science, as well as strong links to industry through Dundee Business School, the University is ideally placed to deliver a mix of research and teaching.
